Mechanical Prototyping

SensorMetrix’s machining facilities include 3 full CNC systems and a full size manual lathe.  A Tormach CNC enables the controlled manufacture of most common machining materials with an XYZ travel capability of 18” x 9.5” x 16.25”.  Two Sherline 2000-series mills and one miniature lathe provide for finer fabrication of materials, with 4-axis control.  Various finishing capabilities are available.

SensorMetrix maintains the latest mechanical design CAD software (including SolidWorks) and software for mathematical and scientific analysis.

A LPKF ProtoMat micro-milling machine, controlled by CircuitCam and BoardMaster software, provides rapid prototyping of traditional circuit board materials to 0.008” resolution.  SensorMetrix also maintains photolithography capabilities for rapid prototyping and a stock of prototyping composites and plastics.  Comprehensive software and scripting has been developed to transition from design to automated manufacturing with the in-house systems.

SensorMetrix has in-house expertise in composite fabrication including carbon-fiber conventional and self-healing composites.
